Rev. Rex Arnold is the Pastor of Christ the King Catholic Church in Nichols Hills. Born in 1961, Rex spent his early years in Commanche, Oklahoma where his family was actively involved in the First Baptist Church.
After graduating high school in 1980, he moved to Edmond to pursue a music scholarship at UCO. Five years and three major changes later, he paused his education and went to work for Foley's Department Stores in Oklahoma City. Upon an invitation from his next door neighbor in The Village, Rex soon found himself visiting St. Eugene's Catholic Church to enjoy the music. In addition to the music, he also discovered that Fr. Bill Pruett was an amazing homilist, as well, and decided to investigate the Church further.
By 1991, Rex had graduated from SNU with a Human Resources degree and started RCIA classes at St. Eugene's. He was Confirmed on the feast of Christ the King, Christus Rex, and he's since celebrated Christ the King with great joy as his "Catholic Birthday."
When his father died five years later he started attending daily Mass, where they prayed for an increase to vocations (at the time he thought that was a Catholic vacation). Feeling called to live a more prayerful and charitable life, his prayers included a request for guidance from God. Rex applied for seminary and was sent to Conception Seminary in Missouri for two years of pre-theology and then Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans for theology. He was ordained June 4, 2004, serving as Parochial Vicar at St. John the Baptist before moving to be Pastor at Clinton/Cordell. In 2013 he was made Pastor of St. John Nepomuk in Yukon and, in 2021, moved to Christ the King. Fr. Rex's patron saint is Saint Expeditus.
