Deacon Zak Boazman is 26 years old and originally from Dallas, TX, where he grew up going to Catholic elementary school and Cistercian Preparatory School. At Cistercian, he played football and enjoyed studying math and science, and his faith was well formed by the monks whose chrism it was to teach at an all-boys prep school. In 2010 he graduated from high school and moved to Norman, OK to attend The University of Oklahoma. It was there that he discerned God’s call to study for the diocesan priesthood. With the encouragement and support of Fr. Jim Goins and the community of St. Thomas More, he graduated from OU with a BS in Mathematics in 2012 and began seminary that same year. For the past 6 years, he has been in seminary at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver, CO. Recently, he also had the opportunity to become a certified spiritual director through the Lanteri Center for Ignatian Spirituality. By God’s grace, Dcn. Zak was ordained to the diaconate June 2, 2018, and he awaits his priestly ordination in June of 2019.
AN INVITATION FROM OUR PASTOR - JULY 28-29, 2018
I hope you are all enjoying your summer. These months of June and July just seem to pass more quickly than the rest of the year!
Christ the King has certainly been blessed this summer to have Deacon Zak Boazman assigned to us. Zak’s been happy to pitch in wherever needed this summer, and our staff has grown fond of him in just a few short weeks. I hope many of you were able to hear him preach at Mass or attend one of his talks on Christian virtues. He was also a tremendous help to our youth program, assisting with our Totus Tuus week and chaperoning our youth on their weekend trip to Springfield, MO for the Steubenville Youth Conference.
The weekend of July 28-29, 2018, will be Zak’s last with us, as he will return to St. John Vianney seminary in August for his last year of Theology. Please take a moment following Mass to thank Deacon Zak for his time with us this summer and to wish him well as he prepares for his ordination to the priesthood next June. If you would like to bring him a card or small gift for his going away, there will be a basket to collect those at coffee & donuts.
Let us keep Deacon Zak in our prayers and may God continue to bless him.
